This week the Garden Club learned about ...

 Plastics effect on the planet, recycling, composting, plants and plant parts!

 The recycle program at their own school - how each kid can make a difference!



What Composting is and How to Compost at home in the school garden

 There were about 60 kids in the BEST after school program that were present at the presentation. 



The kids each took home a recycled bag that they can use when they go to the store instead of using plastic bags!

Worm Composting

At the end of the presentation the Garden Club kids stayed for an extra presentation on

Composting with Worms! 



 The kids were able see the soil that the worms have made out of the food that they have consumed.

The Garden Club also learned about Plants!

The kids were able to get a better idea of how plants grow with this painting/poster.

Plant Parts:  Roots, Stem, Leaves, Flower, Fruit, Seeds



Each student was given a picture of a fruit or vegetable and they had to decide what plant part group it belonged in.
